COMING IN AUGUST - 2009 PEACE SCHOOL!

"Many Faces, One Community: Valuing Multiculturalism and Diversity"
Saturday, August 1st 10:00-4:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 2nd 2:00-6:00 pm.
Indianola Presbyterian Church
1970 Waldeck Avenue

Description: Peace Schools have been an integral part of the Center since its founding in 1982. Designed initially to help children envision a "Peaceable Future," our Peace Schools have grown to include parents and adults in order to strengthen our impact on children and families. This year we will explore how the many ways in which we are different from others as well as the many things we have in common can help us build a more peaceful world.

  • Who can participate?  Parents and their children; children must have completed kindergarten, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the entire event.  Daycare may be available at a small cost - please let us know if you will need this service.
  • Cost: $10 per person or $25 for families of 3 or more people
  • What to expect: Games, music, fun, and learning!  Parents and children will be together for some activities; at other times they will be in separate classes.

A Message on behalf of the ICP Board of Directors from Doug Cluxton, President:

In May, Audra Teague completed her sixth month as Program Coordinator of Interfaith Center for Peace and as planned, the Executive Committee of the board conducted a performance review. I am pleased to report that the committee considers Audra’s performance as Program Coordinator to be outstanding! She has exhibited energy, creativity, and commitment to the mission of ICP. The board is so pleased with Audra’s work that a decision was made to name her Executive Director of ICP effective on June 1st!  We see this decision as a sign of the seriousness and commitment of both the board and Audra to moving forward in adapting to an ever-changing world and continually developing our understanding of how we can be most relevant to our community. The board believes that this title change, together with her increased future responsibilities, will enhance Audra’s credibility and effectiveness. We are very excited to have a person with her gifts and abilities working with us as together, we seek to fulfill our mission.
